I know how painful it is to have to scroll down five kilometres to read a post, so what I've done is follow some useful tips online to determine how to expand a post. This guy's site is amazing for this sort of information. I doubt he's even - you know - foreign.

Weblog facelift
What do you mean you don't know what a weblog is? Back in the good days before blogging was a household term, there was such a thing as weblogging, which is from whence the term blogging originates. Or something like that.
Anyway, I've facelifted my weblog a few times, because I'm a perfectionist (did you know that?). I figure this style is the best minimalist-yet-fresh looking style I could find. I shall have to modify it quite a bit, because the dude that designed it is foreign or something. I've done a bit, but will get around to the rest later (I hope).
Here were some worthy candidates (I had a neat CITYSCAPE one, but I accidentally lost it before I could save my modified template)...

This one was a favorite of mine, especially because of the WEB2.0 feel - it just didn't seem to make sense to have it expand down the side and not the main stuff, and then I realised (too late) that it wouldn't be a problem once there were more posts than the default one :) This one are a winner, and I half feel like I should have stuck with him instead of overlooking him for a silly reason or other. And he wasn't even - you know - foreign.

Blogger: showing the navbar
Maybe I'm too much of a n00b for blogger, but I like the NAVBAR. I also like nice templates that make my site look cool, and I've been playing around recently with a whole bunch, but the perfectionist in me has delayed me settling on one just yet... at any rate, the nice templates tend to remove the NAVBAR because it clashes with the design. Without the NAVBAR, the n00b here can't make new posts or access the dashboard, so I have to restore the NAVBAR. Here's how:
You need some code that says:

It's that simple.

There's also a whole lot of goodness @ wap.defza.com. Can we trust these convenient mobile links? I have no idea. Do I use them unwittingly? No. Do I use them despite the possible risks? Some of them, yes.

Take your tasks with you!
Tasks mobile
Take your to-do list everywhere you go. Just go to mail.google.com/tasks from your mobile browser!!
It seems to let you choose the task-list; you can quick add tasks to that list, you can clear completed tasks, and you can add up to five in one go... it really seems like a great way forward, but in my view, it's a sorry replacement for the VERY useful m.google.com/notebook feature that they've done away with, but at least with this one you can add tasks. I just wonder if you can SHARE task sheets, because that would be the bomb (google bomb?) :)

DELL PowerEdge 2900 Strike F1 to continue
What an annoying problem. Power in South Africa is so flaky now that you can expect a server to have died sometime over the weekend. You don't expect the server to have woken up, but be halted at a "strike F1 to continue" screen, which is precisely what I'm facing with the DELL PowerEdge 2900 machine. Philosophical question: If a network tree fails in a cluster, and no-one is around to press F1, is there a way to revive it?

After going into the BIOS and checking out the stuff, I noticed that SATA PORT A is an "unknown device" and when I went into it, the setting was "AUTO" ... when I switched it OFF, and there was no longer a SATA PORT A device (only SATA PORT B device which was the CD-ROM), it no longer spewed forth said error. Turns out it was confuzzled! Now I can allow my machine to wake itself up without my interventions. Job done. :)

SuperBru #6 moment of glory
I just have to share (read: gloat).
As of RIGHT NOW I'm in top spot on all three of my pools; including my $ pool (in line for R5,800 for first place).
Also, before last week I was in global pos # 386, before this weekend I made it to #297, and as of right now - out of 48,652 players - I'm in pos #111.
This is really phenomenal. I can score myself a plasma TV if I keep clawing my way to first place in the competition. Not so easy when there are 48,561 other players out there.
I'm just very excited right now. Week 6, and I'm smiling :) Kat must think I'm a superhero.

A pretty dismal week for most people overall (not a single participant got a grandslam... the best players scored only 7 points for the week; that draw bugbear is a real mess. They have to make the DRAW worth more points because there's otherwise no incentive to choose it), but the nett result for me is that I did better than the rest of the dismal performances in my pools;
